Spurred on by the world wide economic downturn Japanese electronic giants Sony were offering a TV tradein scheme to all of their customers. The Sony TV scrappage scheme has just started so the sony.co.uk/tradein offer makes it a great time to trade in your old TV and get up to £150 off a new Sony LCD TV and £30o off. a 3D TV. The Sony TV trade in deals are available at Comet and John Lewis while stocks last.
The Sony TV scrappage scheme will be very similar to the recent UK governments Car scrappage schemes and fronted by the sony.co.uk/tradein campaign . Sony, like most large electronic manufactures have been hit hard by the global recession, and have lost over $390m in the first fiscal quarter. They are hoping that the TV scrappage scheme will help promote flagging sales by reducing their costs, and making the popular Sony Bravia range far more attractive to customers.
How the Sony TV Scrappage Scheme works…
The Sony TV scrappage schemeworks in exactly the same way as the governments car scrappage scheme, but it is only currently available on TV’s in the Sony Bravia range. Customers can receive up to £150 off 26” to 52” Sony Bravia Flat Screen TVs, when they trade in their old TVs. In order to get the full £150, you’ll need to buy a 52” Sony Bravia TV. The TV scrappage scheme is only available at participating stores and allows customers to trade in any TV, even if they don’t work any more. The following stores have already signed up, and it’s thought that many more will soon jump on the bandwagon - Comet, Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, the Sony Centre, and some independent stores too. The sony.co.uk/rockers scheme will be available all over the UK from mid August 2009.
About the Sony TV Trade In scheme…
The Sony TV Trade In scheme from sony.co.uk/tradein will be advertised on TVs around the world. And football icons Terry veneables, and Stuart Pearce will be the starring in the adverts that accompany the Sony tv trade in promotion. The Adverts in the UK will coincide with the World Cup, making it easier for customers to afford new digital ready TV sets. This scheme is intended to make TV’s far more affordable, and to suit a wider range of customer budgets.
Many people are still throwing away their old TV’s in the trash, when they buy a new one. This scheme will not only encourage people to recycle their old electrical goods, but it also offers them a way to get some money back on their previous electronic purchases.
The Sony TV scrappage scheme is currently only available on the popular Sony Bravia range, and the pilot scheme will be lasting until around mid October this year. There is currently no information about any extensions of this scheme, but if it proves to be successful, Sony may extend the length of the scheme and offer it on all Sony TVs and other electrical goods.
Sony are the first electronics company that are currently offering a TV scrappage scheme of this kind. But, it is very likely that many more large electric manufacturers will be offering a similar scheme in the future, depending the level of success.
Are scrappage schemes and trade in deals here to stay?
Since the UK government’s scrappage scheme began, there was a rise of 2.4% for car sales in July this year, and over 150,000 new cars have already been bough using the scrappage scheme. Sony are hoping to replicate this success with their scheme, and help boost their sales this year.
